What it is

Reliable cleaning, the same trusted hands

House cleaning is the regular upkeep of a home you are living in. Kitchens, bathrooms, floors and the rooms you actually use, done on a schedule so nothing gets the chance to build up. Tara Alexander started MyT Clean in 2021 doing exactly this work around Bedford, and we now cover Milton Keynes, Luton, Leighton Buzzard, St Neots, Biggleswade, Stevenage, Northampton and the towns in between.

Weekly, fortnightly or a single visit, worked around your routine. Which one you want usually comes down to how hard the house is worked rather than how big it is, and it is easy to change once you have seen what a visit gets through.

We keep you with the same DBS checked cleaner wherever we can, so they learn how you like things done and you are not explaining yourself every fortnight. We bring our own products and equipment, let ourselves in if that suits you, and leave every room better than we found it. This is ongoing upkeep. If you want the appliances pulled out and the cupboards done inside, that is our deep cleaning.

Good to know

House Cleaning, answered

Should I book weekly, fortnightly or a one off?

Weekly works best for a full house where the kitchen and the bathrooms are in constant use, and for anyone who wants the place looking the same on a Friday as it did on a Monday. Fortnightly suits smaller households who handle the everyday themselves and want the proper clean done for them. A one off is for a particular reason: visitors coming, a busy spell, or simply wanting the house reset. Start with one and change it later if it is not right.

What does a typical visit cover, and how long does it take?

A visit is the kitchen, the bathrooms, the floors and the rooms you actually use: surfaces and sinks wiped down, hobs cleaned, bathrooms sanitised, then dusting, vacuuming and mopping through. It does not cover the once a year jobs, so no appliances pulled out and no cupboard interiors. That is a deep clean, and the oven and the carpets are jobs of their own. How long a visit runs comes down to how big the house is and how many rooms you want doing, so we work the hours out with you when we quote, and keep you the same slot where we can. The first visit tends to run a little longer than the ones after it.

Do I need to be in, or can you let yourselves in?

Either way. Plenty of our regular clients give us a key or a key safe code and come home to a clean house. Others prefer to be in and put the kettle on. Everyone we send is DBS checked, and MyT Clean is fully insured, so you always know who is coming through the door. If you would rather not hand a key over, tell us and we will book a time when you are in.

Do I need to supply cleaning products?

No. We turn up with our own products and equipment, so there is nothing for you to buy or leave out. If you would rather we used your own, because of an allergy, a pet, a delicate worktop or simply something you get on with, leave it out and tell us, and that is what your cleaner will use. Say so when you book rather than on the day, so it is written down before the first visit.

What happens if my regular cleaner is off?

We let you know beforehand rather than sending somebody you have never met without warning. Another cleaner from the team covers the visit, and we brief them on your home and how you like things done before they arrive, so nothing slips. Your arrival time still shows in the app as usual. There are twenty five of us, so covering a visit is usually easier than moving it.

Is it a problem if I have pets?

Not at all. Plenty of the homes we clean have a dog or a cat in them. Tell us when you book: what they are called, whether the vacuum bothers them, and whether any doors need keeping shut so nobody gets out while we are carrying things in and out. If your dog would rather not be shut away, that is fine too. We are used to pet hair on carpets and stairs and bring the kit for it.

Can I change, skip or pause my clean?

Yes. Give us a call, send an email or message us on WhatsApp and we will move it, skip it or pause it altogether. Holidays, a spell in hospital, a stretch where money is tight: none of it is a problem, and we hold your regular slot where we can. Let us know as far ahead as you are able, because that gives us the best chance of filling the time and keeping your usual day open for you.

Will you do the ironing and change the beds?

Yes, both, if you want them. Beds stripped, changed and made is a simple one to add, and we can pick up the ironing and the laundry in the same visit. Say so when you book so the time is built in rather than eating into the cleaning. If it is only now and then, tell your cleaner when they arrive and we will fit it in where the hours allow.

Do I need to tidy up before you arrive?

No, and there is no need to clean before we come either. It does help if the worktops and the floors are reasonably clear, because we get far more done wiping a surface than unpacking one first, but nobody is judging the state of the place. If the clearing up is part of what you want doing, say so when you book and we will build the tidying into the visit rather than let it eat the cleaning time.

Ready when you are

Need house cleaning?

Tell us about the property and we’ll come back with a clear, no obligation price.
