Very. The newer estates west and south of town, Upton, Grange Park and Collingtree, have wide open drives that stay damp on the shaded side, and algae sits in the joints. A wash and a re-sand puts it back. How long it lasts depends on shade and how much of the drive sits under a tree.

Will jet washing lift the tiles on our Abington path?
Not if the pressure is right. Old path tiles and soft mortar will not take a turbo nozzle held close, so we test a corner, work at low pressure with a fan tip and accept that some staining stays rather than taking the surface off. If a tile is already loose we tell you before we wash it.
Can you wash the yard at our Brackmills unit without stopping the HGVs?
Yes, that is how most of the estate works. Brackmills runs to 730 acres and a lot of it does not shut, so we take the yard in sections, or work a changeover or a quiet hour on nights. We are SMAS Worksafe accredited and insured, which is usually what the gate wants to see.
Our sandstone patio at Brixworth is covered in black spots. Will washing take them off?
Usually much better, not always perfect. Black spot is a lichen and it roots into the stone, so pressure alone only cleans around it. It needs a chemical treatment left to work, then a wash, and sometimes a second visit. Shaded stone in the villages north of town, Brixworth, Spratton and the Bramptons, holds it longest. We tell you what is realistic before we start.

There is no outside tap on our plot at Overstone Leys yet. Can you still wash the drive?
Yes. We carry our own water and can run off our own power, so a plot at Overstone Leys, Buckton Fields or Dallington Grange with nothing connected yet is no problem. On an occupied house an outside tap and a socket do save us time on a big drive. Either way, tell us when you book, and say where the van can stand while it runs.
