Our sandstone patio out at Datchworth is covered in black spot. Will it come off?
It will improve a lot, though rarely back to new. Black spot is a lichen rooted into the stone, so washing alone will not shift it. It needs a treatment left to dwell, and a second visit on a bad one. Patios out in the villages, Datchworth, Benington and Walkern, tend to sit in more shade than a town garden, which is where it takes hold. We will tell you what is realistic first.
